        MORE COSTUMES
        of the
        TEXAS RENAISSANCE FESTIVAL

(UPPER LEFT) Another barbarian prepares to sound his war horn. There seemed to be quite a few "Conan" types wandering the grounds on the weekend we visited, although most of them were not as overdressed as this outland warrior here! (UPPER RIGHT) Quite a few patrons really get into the spirit, dressing up in their favorite costume when they attend the Faires. My personal favorite was Lloyd, who could easily pose either as "Gandalf the Grey" or a visiting Druid--your choice....

(UPPER LEFT) Many visitors thought this skull-helmed warrior standing motionless by the SCA booth was a mannequin on display! They'd get right up into his face to inspect him.... It was really amusing watching their startled reactions when he'd suddenly speak or move!!! (UPPER RIGHT) Originally mistaken for a Mongol horse archer fresh from the steppes of Asia, this warrir is, in fact, the Assassin Keryth K'zar, brother of the Warlord Kilber K'zar (shown immediately below, right). Here Keryth takes a stance by one of the booths near the Raven's Bend Stage. The black facepaint around his eyes was a nice touch to his costume!

(UPPER LEFT) Sholo the Nubian, barbarian swordsman played by Hilton Jackson: yet another warrior I'd want in *my* army! He stood in that pose without moving or speaking for most of one afternoon while patrons milled around and had snapshots taken with him. His self-control and self-discipline was both awesome and very impressive! (UPPER RIGHT) Check out the boots on Warlord Kilber K'zar! Despite his formidable appearance, he was generously answering questions and helping a young reporter write a story on the Festival when this picture was taken. Warlord Kilber operates "Castle K'zar" as a vendor at TRF. For better pictures of the Warlord and his Lady, the Webwitch Seleya, check out the TRF Section of Ryleh's "Links" page to visit Castle K'zar on the Aether!

A Troll joins the Grand Marche around the Faire grounds. This was only one of two commercial-looking masks we saw all weekend long--but it seemed to fit the spirit of the Festival very well....
